>OUR TRADITION - OVER 150 YEARS IN THE WOOD BUSINESS

In 1860, Stefan Kleinszig (1822 - 1897) opened his first sawmill in St.Veit/Glan. Within 10 years, 30 traditional water-powered Venetian saws were providing railway sleepers for the construction of the railway line from Vienna to Trieste.

In 1923 the construction of a modern sawmill with frame saws powered by a steam engine began.

1924

After the end of the Second World War the sawmill, which had been totally destroyed, was reconstructed. Italy was the most important export market. In order to meet the high demand for sawn timber, a timber trading business was set up as early as the end of the 1960s. Since 1995 timber trading and export has been carried out by CARICO Holzhandelsgesellschaft m.b.H.
